  • 13 December 2021 Bristol has been named as one of the most sustainable universities in the country.
  • 21 August 2017 Scientists at the University of Bristol are investigating how bacteria in our mouth can cause a heart problem, called infective endocarditis. Although uncommon, infective endocarditis is a serious condition that can often be fatal.
  • 1 December 2016 The winners of this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Impact Awards, which showcase the diverse and important contributions that Bristol research makes to society, were announced at the Strategy Launch on 29 November.
  • 30 November 2016 Bristol Is Open won The Smart Cities Award at a prestigious ceremony last night [Tuesday 29 November]. The project, which is a joint venture between the University and Bristol City Council, was one of four nominees in the Smart Cities category at the World Communications Awards (WCA).
  • 25 September 2017 The University of Bristol Theatre Collection – one of the world’s largest archives of British theatre history and live art – has been awarded official recognition from the UK Archive Service Accreditation Committee, part of The National Archives.
  • 8 July 2021 The GW4 Alliance, comprising Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter Universities, has been awarded a share of £79 million funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) to support 64 studentships over the next three years.
  • 22 September 2021 A recording of seven compositions by John Pickard, Professor of Composition in Bristol’s Department of Music, has won the Contemporary category of this year’s Gramophone Awards.
  • 22 September 2017 Research that helps GPs identify urinary tract infections in young children has been awarded a 2017 Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research Paper of the Year award.
  • 22 September 2017 Researchers at the Universities of Bristol, Nottingham and Southampton have been awarded £1.4 million by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment Programme to discover which is the best emollient (moisturiser) for treating childhood eczema.
  • 20 October 2021 The University of Bristol is leading an initiative to make cutting-edge robotics, drones and testing spaces available for nuclear research with the launch of four ‘Hot Robotics’ facilities in the UK.
