  • 14 December 2009 A research group set up jointly by the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England (UWE) to study aspects of widening participation in education has been awarded a Research Project Grant by the Leverhulme Trust
  • 21 December 2011 Professor Kei Cho, Chair of Neuroscience in the University’s School of Clinical Sciences, has received one of the Royal Society’s most prestigious awards, a Wolfson Research Merit Award.
  • 13 December 2018 A study to develop new methods for evaluating the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions using atmospheric observations has been awarded £3M by NERC. The project, led by researchers in Bristol’s School of Chemistry, is vital for assessing climate change mitigation measures.
  • 20 December 2007 Carsten Reinhard, a first-year undergraduate in the School of Biological Sciences, has been awarded First Prize in the Federal German Environmental Competition.
  • 19 December 2007 Intute, an online information service co-developed by the University’s Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT), is the winner of the Jason Farradane Award 2007.
  • 13 January 2017 New research that suggests a pre-existing 4G network infrastructure could help drivers make safe decisions in or near accidents has won the ‘Best Paper Award’ at an international conference.
  • 12 February 2021 An Artificial Intelligence start-up developing software which will slash the cost of creating new games has hit its substantial seed-funding target.
  • 21 January 2021 A £20 million investment to champion innovation and nurture the greatest minds in mathematical sciences across the UK has been awarded today to the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research (HIMR).
  • 21 March 2017 A team of researchers is to develop a biomimetic forebrain for controlling 3D-printed robot hands with a sense of touch. They aim to create a biomimetic forebrain based on computer modelling of a mammal’s neural system that communicates touch in humans and animals, and use this to perform general manipulation tasks in robots.
  • 10 February 2021 A team of researchers, led by chemists from the University of Bristol, has received significant funding from the UKRI to revolutionise the fabrication and application of photovoltaic devices, used to produce solar energy.
